Let’s walk through every field properly
Product name
Your product name should clearly say what the item is. This helps buyers understand it quickly and helps search engines understand your listing.
Instead of writing “Pretty blanket”, try something clearer like:
- Blue hand-knitted baby blanket
- Floral handmade tote bag with pocket
- Pink crochet granny square scarf
Think: what would someone type if they were searching for this item?
SKU
SKU means Stock Keeping Unit. It is a little code you can use to organise your products.
You can leave this blank if you do not need it. If you want to use one, keep it simple:
- BLANKET-001
- TOTE-BLUE-01
- SCARF-PINK-02
Price
Add the price in Australian dollars. Try to price in a way that respects your time, materials, and skill.
A simple pricing thought:
- Materials cost
- Time spent making it
- Packaging costs
- Marketplace and payment fees
- A fair profit for your work
Stock quantity
Stock quantity means how many of this item you have available.
If you only made one, enter 1. If you have five of the same item, enter 5.
Status
Use Draft if you are still working on the listing. Use Publish when the item is ready for buyers to see.
If you are unsure, save as Draft first. There is no rush.
Product details
Descriptions help buyers feel confident.
Short description
The short description is a quick summary. It usually appears near the top of the product page or product card.
Keep it simple and useful:
- What is it?
- Who is it for?
- What makes it special?
Example:
A soft handmade baby blanket in gentle blue tones, perfect as a thoughtful newborn gift or keepsake.
Full description
The full description gives buyers all the details they need before purchasing.
Include:
- Size or measurements
- Colours
- Materials
- How it was made
- What it can be used for
- Care instructions
- Any natural handmade variation
Using ChatGPT for help
You are welcome to use free tools like ChatGPT to help write your listing. This can be especially helpful if you know what you made but find it hard to put into words.
Try this:
“Please help me write a short and full product description for this handmade item. It is a blue knitted baby blanket made from soft acrylic yarn. It measures 80cm x 90cm. It took around 6 hours to make. It would suit a baby shower gift.”
Then copy, paste, and edit the answer so it still sounds like you.
Categories and tags
Help buyers find your work.
Category
Choose the category that best fits your item. This helps buyers browse the marketplace more easily.
Choose the closest match. Do not worry if it is not perfect – we can improve categories as the marketplace grows.
Tags
Tags are small keywords that help describe your item.
Use a few useful tags, not too many. Good tags might include:
- crochet
- baby gift
- knitted blanket
- handmade tote
- floral
- recycled fabric
Avoid using lots of unrelated tags. Clear and honest tags work best.
Images
Photos help people trust what they are buying.
Your images do not need to be professional, but they should be clear, bright, and honest.
Recommended image tips
- Use JPEG images where possible.
- Keep images under about 1MB if you can.
- Use clear natural light near a window or outside in shade.
- Avoid messy backgrounds where possible.
- Show the full item clearly.

How many photos should I upload?
Aim for 3 to 6 good photos if possible.
- Front view
- Back view
- Close-up detail
- Scale photo showing size
- Packaging or folded view
- Lifestyle photo if you have one
Image file names
Before uploading, rename your images clearly. This helps organisation and may support search visibility.
Better file names:

- pink-crochet-scarf-detail.jpg
Avoid names like IMG_4821.jpg or Untitled-1.jpg if you can.
Shipping and parcel details
Clear shipping helps avoid confusion.

Add the packed weight of the item in kilograms if you know it. For example, 350g would be entered as 0.350.
Length, width, and height
Add the approximate parcel size in centimetres. This helps calculate or explain postage.
Shipping rates

Processing time

Examples:
- Ready to ship in 1 to 2 business days

- Posted weekly on Mondays
Storytelling
This is where your handmade piece comes alive.
Story hook
The story hook is a short sentence that gives feeling to the item.
Example:
Made from soft blue yarn inspired by quiet winter mornings and baby keepsakes.
Maker story
Tell the buyer what inspired the piece, how it was made, or why it matters.
You do not have to share anything too personal. Just enough to help the buyer feel connected.

Time to make
Share how long it took if you know. This helps buyers appreciate the work involved.
