Rainy Day Crafting: A Cozy Crochet Kit & Travel Find
“What do you call a rainy day craft session with a Nana? Sew much fun.“
The skies had been nothing but blue all week.
Salt in the air. Sun on the water. That kind of easy, coastal rhythm.
And then… the rain came in.
Soft at first. Then steady.
The kind of day that changes your plans — but gives you something else instead.
And for me… that something was crafting.
A Rainy Day Find
Tucked away in Mount Melville sits a little place that feels like a hug the moment you walk in.
The Empty Bobbin Fabric Store.
Warm lighting. Shelves full of possibility. And that quiet excitement that only craft stores seem to carry.
It didn’t take long before something caught my eye.
A small, simple kit.
The kind you almost overlook… until you don’t.
A crochet-your-own fox kit.
Lightweight. Travel-friendly. And exactly what I needed for a rainy afternoon.
Why Crafting and Travel Just Work
There’s something about crafting while travelling that feels right.
It slows everything down.
Gives your hands something to do while your mind wanders.
- ✔ Easy to pack
- ✔ Calming in small spaces
- ✔ Turns moments into memories
And when the weather changes… you’re still creating something.

What Could Be Better

- Limited customisation — what you see is what you make
Still… for a quiet, rainy day project?
It was exactly what I needed.
A Bigger Thought
As I opened the packaging, something stayed with me.
If crafting is about creating better… shouldn’t the materials reflect that too?
There’s space here for something more sustainable.
And maybe that’s where the future of craft is heading.

Love this idea. We have done a lot of traveling and I always take something to make while relaxing in different beautiful spots. I take crochet materials knitting and as I make quilts for charities I even sneak in my sewing machine on some of our trips. Enjoy crafting while travelling it is so relaxing.
