The Dollhouse Door Has Opened
There are some rooms that do not appear on a house plan.
They are found slowly.
Sometimes tucked behind an old hallway.
Sometimes hidden behind a little blue door.
Today, I would love to show you ours.
Welcome to The Dollhouse.
Not because the dolls are finished.
Quite the opposite.
Because this is where they are beginning.
A Room That Has Been Waiting
If you have wandered around Nana’s Quest before, you will already know our little world.
You can step into the markets.
You can unlock the craft room.
You can sit with Nana over a warm cup of tea.
Now there is another door.
One that smells faintly of fabric, yarn and freshly cut thread.
The Dollhouse is not a catalogue.
It is a workshop.
A place where ideas slowly become real.
Meet Prototype Nana
Right now, Nana is not finished.
She is made from an old white bed sheet while patterns are tested, adjusted and stitched together again.
Her cardigan has already changed.
Her body has been reshaped.
Her bloomers have been redesigned.
Soon she will have olive skin, soft white curls, tiny glasses, pearl earrings, her signature blue outfit and the little Founder Pin that marks her place in Nana’s Quest history.
She is not perfect yet.
That is exactly why we wanted to introduce her now.
Because making something by hand is rarely perfect the first time.
Handmade Inside an Avan Camper
One of my favourite parts of this story is where Nana is being made.
Not in a factory.
Not in a big design studio.
She is coming to life inside our little Avan camper on rural land in Western Australia.
Between cups of tea, piles of fabric, tangled yarn and countless pattern adjustments, Nana is slowly finding her personality.
Every stitch teaches us something new.
Every little change brings her one step closer.
Only Fifty Founder Nanas
The very first collection will be small.
Only 50 Founder Nanas will ever be created.
Each one will be handmade.
Each one will receive a numbered collector card.
Each one will arrive in her own keepsake box.
Each one will wear the special Founder Pin on her apron.
Some have already found their place.
Founder Nana No. 001 has been reserved for family in honour of one of the real grandmothers who helped inspire Nana’s story.
Founder Nana No. 017 has also been reserved.
Several more are being held for family before the remaining Founder Collection becomes available.
These first fifty dolls are more than collector dolls.
They are the beginning of Nana’s story in the real world.
This Page Will Never Really Be Finished
The Dollhouse is not a page we will publish and forget.
It is a living journal.
As Nana grows, the page will grow with her.
You will see new photos.
New patterns.
New little victories.
Perhaps a mistake or two.
And eventually, the very first finished Founder Nana.
This Is Just the Beginning
If you have followed Nana’s Quest for a while, you will know this little world has always been bigger than a marketplace.
The Dollhouse is another room inside that world.
One day Nana may become a detective.
She may become a gardener.
She may set sail on grand adventures.
She may even appear in books, games and stories still waiting to be written.
But every adventure has to begin somewhere.
For Nana, it begins with a sewing table, a handful of stuffing, a crochet hook and a dream that someone, somewhere, might like to have a Nana of their own.
And that feels like a pretty wonderful place to begin.
